Day 1 : We depart from Johannesburg at 07h00. Most of today is spent covering the large distance to KwaZulu Natal's Drakensberg. We drive through large agricultural areas in Mpumalanga and the Free State before crossing over the mountains into the Kingdom of the Zulus. We overnight in a guesthouse in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg. (Dinner included) Day 2 : The whole day is spent exploring the rich history, culture and natural diversity of the Sani Pass and its immediate surrounds. Visit a Basotho village with a local guide and have lunch on top of the pass in Lesotho at Africa's highest pub! (Breakfast and Dinner included) Day 3 : We leave early for Zululand. We pass through historical Pietermaritzburg and bustling Durban. As we travel through the rolling sugar plantations, the scenery gradually changes into savannah. Our Zulu experience starts at 16h00 and includes an overnight stay at the village with various cultural and historical shows , which draw us into the true spirit of Africa. Day 4 : After breakfast and a farewell presentation we leave for the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. We travel to St Lucia Village, which is nestled on the tip of a peninsula. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean, the Lake St Lucia estuary and the Park, this unique place is perfectly situated to introduce us the endless birds, hippos, crocodiles and mammals that have their home here. After lunch and some time off to relax and explore, we go on a 2-hour sundowner cruise on the Lake St Lucia estuary, where we will sight hippos, crocodiles and many pecies of birdlife. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 5 : We leave early for Cape Vidal, which is situated on the Indian Ocean within the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park. Depending on the low tide we drive straight to Cape Vidal where we can go snorkelling off a safely protected reef, which stretches out from the beach into the sea. All snorkelling gear and the assistance of a qualified guide is provided. After lunch we make our way back towards St Lucia via an off-track Game drive. Not only is a large range of animals found in this area, but this is also an opportunity to view and experience the 5 unique ecosystems of the park. Drive alongside the highest vegetated dunes in Africa and see if you can spot whales or flamingos in season. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.)
Day 6 : Cross the border into Swaziland and meet these friendly relations of the Zulu people. After a drive to Mlilwane Game Reserve, there will be an opportunity to do a number of activities within the park, such as horse riding, mountain biking, hiking or night drives at own cost. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 7: After a quick stop at one of Swaziland's arts and crafts markets we cross the border back into South Africa and drive into the Kruger National Park. This park is home to over 130 mammal species and over 460 bird species. The habitat is rich in change with a range of different ecosystems. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 8&9 : Our three nights in Kruger National Park will be divided between 2 camps. The 2 days will be spent on safari, in search of the Big 5 as well as countless other mammals, birds and reptiles. There will be 2 guided safaris in our own vehicle as well as the option to do night drives, open vehicle game drives and guided hikes through the park at own cost. Truly a destination and experience of a lifetime. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 10 : A last morning game drive through Kruger National Park on our way out. We travel through the Lowveld to Nelspruit. The afternoon will be free to do some curio and crafts shopping. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 11 : Leave early for this historical and scenic drive. Explore the Panorama Route's Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Berling Falls, God's Window and the mining town of Pilgrim's Rest. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 12 : A relaxing drive back to Johannesburg through the Mpumalanga Highveld farmlands and mining towns. Arrive in Johannesburg early afternoon. (Breakfast included)
